Lisamentary:

Since this is my senior year of high school, I have been gravitating towards books that are about seniors of course! This book is told in a series of flashbacks, which then switches to the present, from when Kelsey and David were friends and when their friendship fell apart.

I've actually read this book twice before doing this review. This book isn't extremely dramatic or funny by any means, but it did make me tear up.

This is David and Kelsey's "second chance of happiness" because they are unexpectedly reunited their senior year. Kelsey had left earlier because of an accident that made her a laughingstock at the school. David had an older girl, Isabel, and Kelsey didn't feel needed. So she left.

When she disappeared, David's dad got sick. This is where the waterworks kicks in. David's dad is so kind and understanding while the cancer is eating away at home. It just breaks my heart! Every time I read it, I tear up a little. Sniff, sniff.

At times, it did get annoying between David and Kelsey, but I'm glad they got together in the end. They compromised and took a risk, letting go of their nevers like "never having a long-distance relationship." I wish that there is a glimpse of how they are doing in the future. However, it seems like they are headed in the right direction.

Last Year's Mistake tells the journey and evolution of Kelsey and David's platonic friendship to a sincere relationship. I'm a sucker for "best friends falling in love" stories, so I just ate it right up! Like I said earlier, this book isn't overly dramatic because we are following their life, not a soap. Even though it's not the most original of stories, I know it's one that I'll read over and over again.

Enjoy!
