Also referred to as the Charmed Ones, the Halliwell sisters realize that not only are they witches, but the most powerful good witches ever known, when they discover the Book of Shadows. Once they read the incantation, their individual powers are activated: Prue, telekinesis and astroprojection; Piper, freeze objects and people; and Phoebe, premonition and later levitation and empathy. The Charmed Ones use their power to protect the innocents against the evil beings of the world with the help of their whitelighter, aka guardian angel, Leo. Besides fighting the demons and devils, the sisters face the challenge of living a normal life, while hiding their secret, as they are extraordinary. This show takes place in San Francisco where all the sisters reside at the Halliwell Manor.

I began watching Charmed a few summers ago and became absolutely obsessed; my sister and I watched all 8 seasons in 5 weeks or so during the summer. Also, I have a thing for witch shows and shows in general where people are a little out of the ordinary and this show definitely hits the mark.

I really enjoyed the relationship between the sisters even though it was tense at times (there was a lot of behind-the-scenes drama between Phoebe and Prue). So, thank god they got rid of Prue because I really didn't like her anyway but not that I liked Phoebe all too much either because my favorite definitely has to be Piper and maybe new-founded sister Paige as a close-second. Phoebe was just intolerable, especially after she met Cole and sided with him, aka the evil side.

The plot and the weekly adventures are really exciting and there are lot of twist and turns. The spells are really cool and they always rhyme, which makes them that much better. However, some of the villains are pretty scary looking so, once again, beware. It's some scary stuff. Nonetheless, I became super invested in this show since it's a good vs. evil, heroes vs. villains type of deal. Also, there's a lot of emphasis on girl power. Go girls!

On a totally different note though, this show was taped way backed when so the girls had a habit of thinking they were above the effect of gravity. And I just couldn't help BUT notice. Don't think I'm weird or creepy because I'm not. You'll know what I'm talking about once you watch.

Enjoy now! Highly recommended summer series!!! You'll fly right through because it's that good.

Characters:

Piper Halliwell: Piper Halliwell was the middle sister until some events changed that. She has the power to freeze people, objects, etc. and then its individual parts once she honed her powers; she later develops the power to make things explode. Piper is level-headed and often tries to keep the peace between her different-tempered sisters until Paige comes along. She is very caring and is always looking out for everyone. Besides being a witch, Piper also a chef along with being a nightclub owner with her sisters. One last thing, the actress who plays Piper, Holly Marie Combs, is also Aria's mom on PLL!!!

Phoebe Halliwell: Phoebe Halliwell was the baby of the family until she was not. She posseses the powers of premonition, levitation, and empathy. Phoebe likes to have fun and is very much a free spirit. Being the youngest chid she is, she is annoyingly stubborn at times and often butts heads with her sisters. She is an emotional character who is all for finding love and struggles with that goal as she is faced with many roadblocks like her being a witch and being attracted to wrong type of men. When she's not on witch-duty, she is an advice columnist in a SF newspaper.

Paige Halliwell: Paige Halliwell, born Paige Matthews, is the long-lost Halliwell sister who was found to replace the dead Prue Halliwell and comes on after the third season. She was adopted by a couple outside of the magical world and thus was somewhat resistant to being a witch. Paige is the product of a witch and a whitelighter, which is an illegal pairing, and, as a result, has a variety of powers like telekinesis, orbiting, sensing, etc., more than any of her sisters. She is fiercely independent and a little weird; her independence makes it difficult for her to handle having sisters. She is also very strong-willed, stubborn, and a little wild, very much reminiscent of her older sisters Prue and Phoebe.

Prue Halliwell: Prue Halliwell is the eldest sister and with their parents gone, she acts a mother figure in her sisters' lives. This often creates conflict wither her sisters since she sometimes comes off as controlling and superior. Prue is also brave and very intelligent. She possesses telekinesis and astroprojection. She works as a art curator and journalist.

Leo Wyatt: Leo Wyatt is the Charmed One's whitelighter. He helps them fight evil and makes sure they are acting within the boundaries set by the Elders. He is a kind, moral person who likes to do what's right. Mostly. He has lived many lives because as a whitelighter, he is immortal.

Darryl Morris: Darryl Morris is an inspector from SFPD and often helps out the Charmed Ones. He is a good friend in that he puts his job and livelihood on the line to help cover up or conceal the sisters' involvement or gives them classified information. He knows that they have magical powers and is an ally of theirs.

Cole Turner: Cole Turner was born Benjamin Turner in 1885 to a mortal parent and a demon part, making him half-demonic. His demonic form is named Belthazor and is often the vessel for evil, having been the Source of All Evil.
